What does "Gezellig" mean? The dictionary says: Gezellig - cosy, snug, snugly, cosily, pleasant, sociable, chatty. But what does it really mean? And why must everything be Gezellig here in the Netherlands? What is behind this Gezellig way of life? What is being hidden under? In this film I let the Dutch people reveal the different meanings of being "Gezellig".

In order to start a new life with her husband Erik-Jan, Milena migrates from Brazil to the Netherlands. It soon appears that she is no longer in love with him and her dream of a promising life in the Netherlands starts to fall apart. Milena suddenly cannot stay Erik-Jan's smell. If she can find a way to live with him, she will keep her dream going.
